Monotype, 2021

Kristina Valenkova has worked quite a lot in printed graphics, especially in such techniques as monotype.
The series of works "The Hayes Code" arose from the search for a visual language for the design of the book "Flowers of Evil" by Baudelaire. The cycle is based on observing people, and the park's habitues (mostly students, local marginals, and migrants). The artist does not show what he saw directly but pulls people, animals, and objects out of the context of the current situation, puts them in a very conditional space, and deprives them of the usual attributes.
